Help & Guide
Everything you need to know about reporting incidents and using ThyPolice.
What is ThyPolice?
ThyPolice is a public registry for documenting police encounters. Our mission is to create transparency and accountability through verified, evidence-based reporting.
Who can submit reports?
Anyone who has had a direct encounter with law enforcement can submit a report. This includes traffic stops, arrests, searches, complaints, and positive interactions.
Why is there a $3 fee?
The small anti-spam fee helps prevent fake reports and system abuse. If you need financial assistance, you can request a fee waiver.
Step 1: Account Creation
Create an account with your email and pay the $3 anti-spam fee. Your personal information is kept private and secure.
Step 2: Incident Details
Provide accurate details including date, time, location, department, officer information, and a clear narrative of what happened.
Step 3: Evidence Upload
Optionally upload supporting evidence like photos, videos, or documents. All files are hashed for integrity verification.
Anonymous Reporting
You can choose to publish your report anonymously. Your identity will be protected in any public summary.
Data Protection
We redact sensitive information like home addresses, phone numbers, and details about minors before publishing summaries.
Right of Reply
Departments have the opportunity to provide an official response to reports, which will be displayed alongside the original report.
Review Process
Every report is reviewed by our moderation team before approval. We check for accuracy, remove duplicate reports, and filter out spam.
Evidence Integrity
Uploaded files are checked for integrity and authenticity. Heavily edited or manipulated media may be rejected.
Report Status
Reports can be pending (under review), approved (published), rejected (invalid), or flagged (needs additional review).
